I was looking up "depression sinking feeling" on the web this morning and came across this blog. I can empathize with you. Nearly every morning, if I am at home, I get a sinking feeling that may last anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes. I suffer from Bipolar Disorder - Type II - and have been clinically depressed on and off since my mother died in April 2007. My husband, who also suffers from bipolar disorder, says he also has this feeling from time to time. It's horrible, and it seems like the only thing that eliminates the feeling is to make sure I'm out of the house, doing something to keep me otherwise occupied. That's not always possible; I often have housework and other things to do.

Please know that you're not alone. I'm so sorry that you are experiencing this phenomenon but, in a way, it is comforting to know that there are others in the same situation.

I am 44 years old and about to finish my bachelor's degree at university. I returned to school in hopes that I will be able to find a job such as freelance writing. I seem to have trouble working for others these days. I've had a string on short-term jobs. I find it hard to face going to work each day. This is also annoying to me. I used to be an energetic, meticulous employee.

Have you found that work is a problem for you, too? In the United States, employers and health insurance companies do not look favorably on mental illness. It's best to hide it.
